United States v. Atlantic Development Group, LLC (S.D.N.Y.)

Overview

The settlement resolves two related Fair Housing Act accessibility cases, United States v. Atlantic Development Group, LLC and United States v. Atlantic Development Group, LLC and Peter Fine (S.D.N.Y.). The complaints were filed on January 17, 2017, and October 16, 2019. Under the agreement, the defendants are to make extensive retrofits in 71 rental buildings with over 6,000 apartments, making this one of the largest settlements of a design and construction case.  The agreement establishes a $600K compensation fund for aggrieved persons and requires Atlantic to pay a $30K civil penalty.
