Vermont Judiciary

Overview

On August 10, 2021, the Justice Department completed a two-year technical assistance agreement with the Vermont Judiciary related to a Title VI of the Civil Rights Act review with a completion letter. In response to a referral from the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), the Department conducted a preliminary review of the Vermont Judiciary’s ability to provide meaningful access to limited English proficient (LEP) court users. During the two years, the Department was able to assist court staff administrators through an assessment, appointment of internal and external advisory committees, adoption of a language access plan, and the creation of a language access operations manual.
