Culturally Specific Services Program
The Grants to Enhance Culturally Specific Services for Victims of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program (CSSP Program) funds culturally specific services for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. The grant program supports community-based programs providing culturally specific services and the development of innovative culturally specific strategies to enhance access to services and resources for victims.
The award period for this program is 36 months. New and continuation applicants are both eligible.
Grant funds can support
With this funding, community-based programs can support, but are not limited to, the following:
- Direct services for victims and secondary survivors;
- Emergency assistance for victims;
- Services and resources that address the safety, economic, legal assistance, and workplace needs of victims;
- Community education and prevention strategies and prevention strategies;
- Training of criminal justice professionals;
- Housing needs;
- Culturally specific healing practices; and
- Services for children who have been exposed to violence.
Eligible applicants
Private nonprofit organizations and Tribal organizations whose primary purpose is to provide culturally specific services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, or community-based organizations whose primary purpose is providing culturally specific services who can partner with a program having demonstrated expertise in serving victims of these crimes. Pursuant to 34 U.S.C. § 12291(a)(8), “culturally specific” means primarily directed toward racial and ethnic minority groups, as defined in 42 U.S.C. § 300u-6(g). Section 300u-6(g) defines “racial and ethnic minority groups” as “American Indians and Alaska Natives; Asian Americans; Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders; Blacks; and Hispanics.”
