Duston J. Slinkard

As Acting U.S. Attorney, Mr. Slinkard supervises the investigation and prosecution of all federal crimes and the litigation of all civil matters in which the United States has an interest.  He leads a staff of approximately 100 lawyers, paralegals and other support professionals who work in three offices associated with the federal courts in Wichita, Kansas City, and Topeka, Kansas.

Slinkard has served in the United States Attorney’s Office for approximately 15 years, serving as a Special Assistant and Assistant United States Attorney, Topeka Criminal Supervisor, District Criminal Chief, and since 2018, as First Assistant United States Attorney. He began his career as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable K. Gary Sebelius, United States Magistrate Judge, District of Kansas, and has worked as Assistant Kansas Revisor of Statutes, Assistant District Attorney for the Kansas Third Judicial District (Shawnee County), and Deputy Kansas Attorney Disciplinary Administrator.  Mr. Slinkard has served as an adjunct professor at the Washburn University School of Law since 2004. Slinkard received a bachelor’s degree in 1995 from the University of Kansas and a law degree in 2003 from the Washburn University School of Law.
