Acting U.S. Attorney

Lisa D. Kirkpatrick is the Acting United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota. Ms. Kirkpatrick has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for over 20 years. Since joining the office, she has prosecuted a wide variety of criminal offenses, from drug crimes to violent and major crimes, and has handled some of the most significant appellate matters for the District in front of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to serving as the Acting United States Attorney, Ms. Kirkpatrick served as the First Assistant United States Attorney and as the Appellate Chief.

Before joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Ms. Kirkpatrick clerked for the Honorable Michael J. Melloy (Ret.), United States Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and for the Honorable Mark W. Bennett (Ret.), United States District Judge for the Northern District of Iowa. Ms. Kirkpatrick obtained her B.A. from Grinnell College and her law degree from Drake University.
