Criminal Division

The Criminal Division is the largest division of the district. It is comprised of multiple attorneys (known as Assistant United States Attorneys or “AUSA’s,”) and their support staff which includes legal assistants and various specialists to assist with prosecuting cases. It is supervised by a Criminal Chief.

There are a wide variety of criminal cases prosecuted in our district. These include racketeering, drug trafficking, firearm violations, CSAM, fraud against the United States, fraud against citizens, immigration issues and crimes of violence. The Criminal Division also administers an asset forfeiture program designed to strip criminals of the fruits of their unlawful activities. Additionally, our victim-witness team makes sure victims' rights are upheld in criminal proceedings and guides them through the legal process. This includes restitution in some cases, to make sure they are made whole financially.

Criminal AUSA’s work closely with agents and officers from a variety of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals and organizations who violate the federal criminal laws.  It implements national, regional and district-wide initiatives such as Homeland Security Task Force, Operation Take Back America,  Project Safe Neighborhoods, Project Safe Childhood, and others designed to keep our towns and communities safe.

With the powerful partnerships of our federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, the Criminal Division strives to protect the citizens of the Northern District of Mississippi, and the interests of the United States by providing equal justice to all.
