Kidnapper Sentenced to 12.5 Years in Prison
According to court documents, Tony Scott, Jr., 28, pleaded guilty to kidnapping a woman in Mobile, Alabama, in December 2019. Court records show that Scott forced her at gunpoint to drive him across state lines into Georgia where she was able to escape. Law enforcement utilized a K-9 unit to track Scott, and he was ultimately captured in possession of a handgun. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Scott was ordered to serve five years of supervised release following the conclusion of his sentence.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama made the announcement.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kasee S. Heisterhagen prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
