MOBILE, AL – A Selma man was sentenced today to 18 months in prison for unlawful possession of machine gun conversion devices, commonly known as “Glock-switches.”
According to court documents, Mark Anthony Wallace, 26, was sentenced today for possession of two machinegun conversion devices. On February 2, 2024, Wallace was pulled over by Dallas County Sheriff Deputies for a traffic violation and observed a firearm with a machinegun conversion device attached with a high-capacity magazine. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was notified and continued the investigation leading to Wallace’s federal indictment. On October 13, 2024, Wallace was pulled over for speeding by law enforcement and a background check showed an outstanding arrest warrant from the Southern District of Alabama. When taken into custody, Wallace was found to be possession of another machinegun conversion device attached to a firearm with a high-capacity magazine.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama made the announcement.
Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew D. Arrington prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
