Atlanta Woman Sentenced to Almost 2 Years in Prison For Making a False Statement to Purchase a Firearm

Gulfport, Miss – Crystal Asher Small, 32, of Atlanta, formerly of Hattiesburg and Trinidad, Tobago, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden to 21months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for making a false statement to purchase a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Kurt Thielhorn, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Small was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine.

Small made false statements that she was the actual buyer of fifteen (15) firearms from February 2015 through May 3, 2017, at firearms dealers in Gulfport and Hattiesburg.  Two of the guns purchased through Small and her accomplices were found at crime scenes in New York City within 9 months.  Small pled guilty before Judge Starrett on February 18, 2020.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.
