Agency Information
The United States Attorney's Office serves as the principal litigator for its judicial district and is responsible for coordinating multiple agency investigations within the district. The United States Attorney has the responsibility and authority to prosecute violations of federal criminal statutes, defend the government in civil actions, seek the enforcement of a variety of civil enforcement statutes, and institute proceedings for the collection of fines and penalties among other things.
As the federal agency whose mission is to ensure the fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans, the Department of Justice is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. To build and retain a workforce that reflects the diverse experiences and perspectives of the American people, we welcome applicants from the many communities, identities, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, abilities, religions, and cultures of the United States who share our commitment to public service.
The United States Attorney's Office offers opportunities for college student and law student volunteers each semester. An internship with United States Attorney’s Office gives the student a “real world” legal experience with the opportunity to apply legal knowledge, skills, and abilities to actual legal practice situations. Law student volunteers receive academic credits from their respective law schools based on the educational experience they gain from their work in the United States Attorney's Office.
