Huntington Man Sentenced to Prison for Federal Drug Crime

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Clarence Montana Walls, 39, of Huntington, was sentenced today to four years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for distribution of methamphetamine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Walls sold quantities of methamphetamine at a Richwood residence on five occasions between October 11 and October 26, 2023, each time to a confidential informant. Walls also sold a quantify of fentanyl to a confidential informant in Clay County on May 9, 2023. With his guilty plea, Walls admitted to the October 11, 2023, methamphetamine transaction in Richwood.

On October 31, 2023, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the Richwood residence, where Walls had been living, and seized $650 in prerecorded money from the controlled drug buys in addition to $3,625 and a small quantity of controlled substances.  

Walls has a long criminal history that includes prior convictions for second-degree criminal sexual conduct, domestic violence, providing false information to officers, and multiple controlled substance offenses. The Court also concluded that Walls obstructed justice following his arrest in the case, when he made recorded jail phone calls to an individual in an attempt to influence the individual’s grand jury testimony against him.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.

United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston presided imposed the sentence. Assistant United States Attorneys Andrew D. Isabell and Alexander A. Redmon prosecuted the case.
