Former U.S. Attorney Chad Lamar

On Wednesday, November 22, 2017, William C. Lamar was sworn in as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi by Chief U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock in Oxford, Mississippi.  Lamar was nominated by President Donald J. Trump on June 29, 2017, and was unanimously confirmed by the Senate on November 19, 2017.

Mr. Lamar has been an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Mississippi since 1991.  Prior to his confirmation as U.S. Attorney, he served as Chief of the Criminal Division since April 2014, and was the Senior Litigation Counsel and Appellate Chief from 2008 to 2014.  Mr. Lamar has received several awards for his prosecution work, including the Executive Office for United States Attorneys Director's Award in 2004.  From 1990 to 1991, Mr. Lamar served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Neal B. Biggers, Jr., of the Northern District of Mississippi.  Mr. Lamar graduated from Millsaps College, the University of Mississippi School of Law and the Boston University School of Law.
