Senegal: ICITAP Supports Development of CT Legislation to Enhance Inter-Ministerial Cooperation

On April 7 and 8, the ICITAP Advisor to the Senegalese Inter-Ministerial Counterterrorism Prevention & Response and Coordination Task Force (CICO), participated in United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) consultative meetings to discuss Counterterrorism (CT)-related criminal legislation. Meeting participants hailed from CICO, the Senegalese Intelligence Community, Ministry of Justice, and UNODC. The CICO Chief of Staff represented the agency and spoke of the need for clear legislative authority to enhance CICO’s ability to coordinate and collaborate with the intelligence and security sectors, and the benefits such collaboration would provide to the national CT capacity. In Senegal, ICITAP works with the support of and in partnership with the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism.
