Albania: Minister of Interior Hails ICITAP-Developed Case Management System

On April 2, Albania’s Ministry of Interior hosted a ceremony to mark the nationwide operational deployment of the Albanian State Police (ASP) Case Management System. This system has been a long-term foreign assistance investment, which was celebrated in speeches by the Minister of Interior, the General Director of the ASP, and in remarks given by the U.S. Embassy Tirana Chargé d'Affaires. The ASP and the U.S., through State Department-funded ICITAP programming, have cooperated over the last five years to implement a digital case management system to automate the documentation and conduct of all law enforcement investigative activity. The focus of the project involved establishment of operational, legal, and technical working groups, IT infrastructure investment, programming, and training of police officers. INL donated computer workstations and printers/scanner units and provided additional investment in network upgrades and extensions to ensure the stability and capacity of the nationwide network to support these additional devices and users at all police locations. As a result, the ASP was able to deploy equipment and training to all 12 regional and border police directorates and subordinate units reaching over 6,100 officers. In Albania, ICITAP partners with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) on this project.
