Mexico: ICITAP Leverages Virtual Mentoring Platform in New COVID-19 Environment

On March 20, 2020, despite the challenges of restriction on movement during the COVID-19 pandemic, ICITAP-Mexico completed a week of remote technical assistance and mentoring via virtual visits in 17 states with 22 ICITAP experts as follows: Chemistry: Four experts provided remote assistance in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas; Zacatecas, Zacatecas; Pachuca, Hidalgo; and Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Fingerprints: Four experts provided remote assistance in Saltillo, Coahuila; Colima, Colima; Zacatecas, Zacatecas; and La Paz, Baja California Sur. Ballistics: Five experts provided remote assistance in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas; Parral, Chihuahua; Temixco, Morelos; Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; and Zacatecas, Zacatecas. Crime Scene Investigation: Four experts provided remote assistance in Villahermosa, Tabasco; Pachuca, Hidalgo; Zacatecas, Zacatecas; and La Paz, Baja California Sur. Medicine: Five experts provided remote assistance in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; Merida, Yucatan; Colima, Colima; Puebla, Puebla; and Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. In Mexico, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
