On October 10, ICITAP-Ukraine participated in a discussion panel at a forum organized by UN Women Ukraine, the Government of Sweden, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs about women in security, defense, and law enforcement. The event, titled “The Feat Knows No Gender,” was opened by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and featured remarks from a number of international leaders in the gender equality movement. ICITAP spoke on a panel focused on the international experience of countries with high representation and participation of women in peace and security. The event incorporated themes of equality among those who serve in traditionally male-dominated fields in celebration of Ukraine’s national holiday Defender’s Day on October 14, which is a day of appreciation for the men and women who have served or currently serve in the armed forces. Attendees at the event represented international government and non-governmental organizations including the UN, NATO, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and various members of the Ukrainian government.
