Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Keith D. Edelman

Keith D. Edelman serves as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division, overseeing the Fraud Section and the Money Laundering, Narcotics, and Forfeiture Section. Prior to his selection, Keith served for one year as the Acting Chief Counselor in the Criminal Division’s Office of Assistant Attorney General (OAAG).  In that role, Keith served as the second-in-command for the Division, overseeing the strategic and operational management of the Division’s 16 sections and offices.

Prior to that, Keith served as Principal Assistant Chief of the Fraud Section’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Unit and Senior Counsel in OAAG.  Before joining the Criminal Division, Keith spent seven years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), where he served as Deputy Chief of the Office’s Organized Crime and Gangs Section. As part of his work investigating corruption at FIFA and other soccer organizations, Keith received the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service. In between his time in the Criminal Division and EDNY, Keith was Associate General Counsel at Meta, where he handled regulatory investigations across the country.

Prior to joining the Department, Keith was in private practice and clerked for the Honorable Reena Raggi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Nicholas G. Garaufis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.  He is a graduate of Duke University and earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Senior Editor on the Columbia Law Review.
