U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducted a special naturalization ceremony at the U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday, Nov. 17, with USCIS Director León Rodríguez administered the Oath of Allegiance to more than 50 candidates from 40 countries.  The ceremony commemorated the creation of the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices, an office within the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division that protects the rights of work-authorized noncitizens and U.S. citizens in the workplace.

The more than 50 naturalization candidates originate from the following 40 countries: Argentina, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Korea, Syria, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
