Gauri Gopal, Deputy Chief
Linda Monroe, Deputy Chief
Christian Natiello, Deputy Chief

The Major Crimes Section is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of violent crime cases (other than homicides, sex offenses, and domestic violence cases).  The Section follows a vertical prosecution model, where prosecutors handle cases from intake to the conclusion of the case.  AUSAs are assigned to specific geographic areas of the District that align with MPD districts.  Violent crime offenses prosecuted by the Major Crimes Section include shootings, carjackings, armed robberies, and assaults with intent to kill.  The Major Crimes Section is also responsible for investigating and prosecuting local economic crime, including fraud and financial exploitation of the elderly.
