Meet the U.S. Attorney

Jeanine Ferris Pirro

Jeanine Ferris Pirro is the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. Judge Pirro was Senate confirmed in August 2025, having previously served as Interim U.S. Attorney beginning in May 2025.

Judge Pirro has more than three decades of experience in law enforcement. She served as an Assistant District Attorney for Westchester County, NY, before becoming the first female judge elected to the Westchester County Court. Ms. Pirro was the first woman elected to serve as Westchester County District Attorney for three consecutive terms and was the first female president of the New York State District Attorneys Association. 

Judge Pirro has the distinction of starting the first domestic violence unit in a prosecutor’s office in the nation, followed by several other victim-focused programs.  She is the author of eight books including New York Times best sellers.
