Kosovo: ICITAP Enhances Police Response to Counter Domestic Violence

On May 5, ICITAP concluded a series of five separate roundtables, which began on April 21, with 50 Domestic Violence assigned Kosovo Police. The concept was to discuss the police response; identify gaps, needs, and actions to better address the serious crime. ICITAP-Kosovo’s Attaché led the sessions with questions that created a lively discussion and identified areas where improvements are needed. All of the participants appreciated the open conversation. The outcomes will be consolidated then presented to the Kosovo Police leadership for action. Areas of improvement included material, equipment, assignments patterns, and staffing. Also, the team discussed adopting a victim’s rights cards (contact information for available resources) that will assist the victims and refining the police checklist that will enable a more comprehensive response.
