Court Event

On July 25, 2007, Michal Zakrzewski, a/k/a "White Mike," was indicted on one count of conspiracy (18 U.S.C. § 371) and forty-two counts of wire fraud. Following his arrest and extradition to the U.S. from Costa Rica, Zakrzewski waived a detention hearing and consented to detention on May 20, 2009.

Zakrzewski pled guilty to one count of conspiracy (Count 1: 18 U.S.C. § 371) and one count of wire fraud (Count 8: 18 U.S.C. § 1343 on August 12, 2009. Zakrzewski was sentenced on September 22, 2009 to 126 months in prison, to be followed by 3 years supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $4.2 million in restitution jointly and severally with his co-defendants. 

On February 2, 2012, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, in a 3-0 unpublished decision, vacated the district court’s restitution order and remanded the case for further proceedings.
