Interview Information

OARM will centrally schedule Honors Program interviews.  Candidates should follow OARM's instructions regarding scheduling.  BOP will follow up with additional information, including the link to the virtual interview platform.  SLIP Candidates will be contacted by BOP to set up a telephone or virtual interview.  

Pre-Interview Submissions (Honors Program and Summer Law Intern Program):  The Federal Bureau of Prisons requests a writing sample.  

  • Submission Deadline: Not later than 7 days after notification of selection for an interview. If additional time is needed, applicant must request an extension via email from the BOP contact.
  • Format: Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF
  • Type of Writing Sample: Candidates should submit a writing sample, not to exceed 10 pages in length. Applicants should add a summary or introductory statement to assist the reader and provide context. An excerpt from a longer piece is acceptable. The sample should provide evidence of the candidate's skills in legal analysis and effective writing.  It should represent the candidate's own work, without extensive editing by a third party.

Special Instructions: Ensure the documents submitted clearly identify the candidate by name or contain the candidate's name at the top, right corner of the first page.
