Interview Information

The Office for Access to Justice will interview applicants virtually. Candidates should follow instructions from the Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management (OARM) regarding interview scheduling.  OARM will notify candidates of their interview day and time.  The Office for Access to Justice will send interviewees supplemental information, including the interview link, in advance of the scheduled interview.

Pre-Interview Submissions

The Office for Access to Justice requests a writing sample and current resume.   

• Submission Deadline: Within 3 business days following notification of selection for an interview.
• Format: Adobe Acrobat (PDF
• Type of Writing Sample:

  • Interview candidates should submit one writing sample only, not to exceed 15 pages.  The writing sample should be of sufficient length to demonstrate the candidate’s legal writing abilities.  An excerpt from a longer piece is acceptable.  (A short summary or explanation to orient the reader is permissible).  The sample should be the candidate’s exclusive work, unedited by third parties.

Submission Method: Submit by e-mail as an attachment to: ATJ Applicants at ATJ.Applicants@usdoj.gov and Nichole.Miller2@usdoj.gov  

The email subject line should include the candidate’s name followed by HP Submissions (e.g., A.B. Candidate – 2023/2024 HP Submissions)
