INTERVIEW LOCATION

Candidates residing outside of Anchorage, Alaska may be interviewed by VTC in lieu of travel.  The District of Alaska will independently schedule VTC interviews and interviews with local candidates.  Call-back interviews for non-local candidates may involve travel at government expense that will be individually coordinated between the District and the Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management.  

The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Alaska is located at 222 West 7th Avenue, Suite 253, Anchorage, Alaska. Candidates should allow 5-10 minutes after arrival to clear security, then proceed to the office on the second floor.  Upon arrival, candidates should ask for Renee Robinson.

The office is located approximately 15 minutes from the Ted Stevens International Airport.  Ground transportation from the airport is available.  If flying into Anchorage, a candidate is authorized to take a taxi or other commercial ground travel to and from the courthouse.

The USAO for the District of Alaska requests a cover letter, resume, and writing sample.

Submission Deadline

Not later than 10 business days after notification of selection for an interview.

Format

Type of Writing Sample

Interview candidates should submit an original piece of legal writing or analysis that has not been extensively edited by a third party (e.g., not a heavily-edited law review article or a judicial opinion).  We request writing samples not exceed 15 pages.  An excerpt from a longer piece is acceptable – just include a brief explanation.  If written in conjunction with others, the candidate must clearly identify those portions he or she authored.

Submit the cover letter, writing sample, and résumé, by e-mail as attachments to: renee.robinson@usdoj.gov.

The email subject line should reflect: “Honors Program Submission” and include the candidate’s name.

For example, documents submitted by “A.K. Candidate” could read: Honors Program Submission - A.K. Candidate

Special Instructions

The documents submitted should clearly identify the candidate or contain the candidate's name on the first page of each document.
