Interview Information

Honors Program interviews will be conducted via virtual platforms.  Candidates should follow scheduling instructions from the Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management (OARM).  OARM will notify candidates of their interview time and date.  The USAO-District of Columbia will provide supplemental instructions including the interview link and contacts for technical assistance. 

Pre-Interview Submissions

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia requests a writing sample and an updated resume. 

  • Submission Deadline: As soon as possible but not later than 5 days after notification of selection for an interview.
  • Format: Adobe Acrobat PDF
  • Type of Writing Sample:
    • Interview candidates should submit one writing sample only, not to exceed 15 pages in length.  An excerpt from a longer piece is acceptable and applicants may add a summary or introductory statement to orient the reader and provide context.  The sample should provide evidence of the candidate’s skills in legal analysis and writing.  It should represent the candidate’s own work, without extensive editing by anyone else. 

Submission Method:

Submit the requested documents by e-mail as an attachment to:  jean.Sexton@usdoj.gov and Felicia.Taylor@usdoj.gov

The email subject line should reflect: “Honors Program Submission” and include the candidate’s name.

For example, documents submitted by “J.Q. Candidate” should read: Honors Program Submission – J.Q. Candidate

Special Instructions

Please consolidate into one PDF.  If you cannot, and attach separately, the documents submitted should contain the candidate’s name at the top, right corner.
