Interview Information

The Southern District of Florida will conduct virtual interviews this year.  Applicants should follow instructions from the Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management (OARM) to schedule their interviews.  The District will send candidates a link to participate in the interview in advance of the scheduled time. If you have not received your interview link at least 72 hours prior to the interview, contact Melissa.Serey@usdoj.gov

Pre-Interview Submissions (Honors Program only)

The Southern District of Florida requests a writing sample and a resume (PDF only). 

  • Submission Deadline: Within 5 days of notification of interview selection. 
  • Format: Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). 
  • Type of Writing Sample:
    • Legal analysis writing sample not to exceed 10 pages in length.  Please do not submit work that has been heavily edited by others.  Extracts from an article, brief, or memorandum are acceptable.  If the work was authored by more than one person, the candidate should highlight the portions that the candidate authored.  If the sample is an extract from a longer work, a short summary for context at the start of the sample is permissible.

      The resume should not exceed two pages.  One page is strongly preferred.

Submission Method:

Submit by e-mail as attachments to: Melissa.serey@usdoj.gov
Submit ONE email with both attachments (writing sample and resume).

All submissions should be labeled as follows:
Candidate Name  – Writing Sample
Candidate Name – Resume

The subject line of the e-mail should be “Honors Program Submissions - Candidate name

For example, an e-mail submitted by “George Washington” should have the following subject line: Honors Program Submissions – George Washington

Special Instructions

The documents submitted should clearly identify the candidate or contain the candidate's name at the top, right, corner of the first page.
