"Today, the Justice Department is announcing significant enforcement actions against the largest, most violent, and most prolific fentanyl trafficking operation in the world - run by the Sinaloa Cartel, and fueled by Chinese precursor chemical and pharmaceutical companies." -Attorney General Merrick B. Garland
"Fentanyl doesn't care about who you are, what you do, what you believe, who you love, or who you might be leaving behind. It doesn't care if your first time using it is your last time...this drug is designed to destroy and devastate, and just like that it can take you." -U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams
"We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute individuals from the leaders of the cartel down to the local trafficking organizations who are flooding Chicago with illicit drugs and reaping profit from the destruction that they are inflicting on our communities." -U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Morris O. Pasqual
On April 14, 2023 The Justice Department announced charges unsealed in the Southern District of New York, Northern District of Illinois, and District of Columbia, against several leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, a transnational drug trafficking organization based in Sinaloa, Mexico, and its facilitators across the globe.
