John Hill

Selected as Chief of the Superior Court Division in October 2020, John oversees approximately 175 AUSAs and 60 support staff, who handle all adult felonies and most misdemeanors committed in the District. John previously served as the Deputy Chief of the Division and as a Deputy Chief in the Division’s Major Crimes Section.
A graduate of Baylor University and Harvard Law School, John clerked for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez in the Western District of Texas before joining the Dallas office of a Texas-based international law firm. While there, John won the firm-wide pro bono award for his work representing low-income residents in West Dallas.
John joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2011. After completing the rotational assignments, he served as a senior AUSA first in the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Section of the Superior Court Division, and later in the National Security Section of the Criminal Division. He also worked for a year in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, advising on criminal and national security matters, and serving as a liaison with Interpol Washington and the US Parole Commission. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein presented John with the “Champion of the Justice Manual Award” for leading over 250 employees across 25 DOJ components in a comprehensive overhaul of the Justice Manual, the leading compilation of principles, policies, and procedures that governs all DOJ employees and litigation.
