Julianne Johnston

Julianne graduated from Vanderbilt University summa cum laude in 2005 and received her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School magna cum laude in 2008. After law school, Julianne served as a judicial law clerk to the late Honorable J. Frederick Motz, United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and to the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Following her clerkships, Julianne worked as an associate at Williams & Connolly LLP. Julianne was sworn in as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia in 2013.  She served as a line AUSA prosecuting felony sex offenses in D.C. Superior Court before becoming a supervisor in 2018.  Julianne served as a Deputy Chief overseeing misdemeanors in the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Section, a Deputy Chief in the General Crimes Section overseeing the Case Initiation Unit, and a Deputy Chief in the Major Crimes Section. In 2020, she became Deputy Chief of the Superior Court Division, and she assumed the role of Division Chief in 2021. Julianne has received numerous awards during her tenure with the Office, including the United States Attorneys Association Harold J. Sullivan Award and the United States Attorney’s Impact Award.
