WASHINGTON – Tre Enrique Jackson, 31, of the District, was sentenced to 58 months in federal prison today after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes ordered that Jackson serve three years on supervised release when he is released from prison.
The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., and Chief Pamela A. Smith, of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
On Sept. 18, 2023, MPD detectives and officers executed a search warrant at a residence where Jackson was staying. While searching the residence, detectives looked inside a backpack that Jackson had been seen carrying earlier that day and discovered a Glock-style Privately Manufactured Firearm– commonly referred to as a ghost gun.
The firearm was chambered for 9mm ammunition and was loaded with one round in the chamber and 12 rounds in a 17-round capacity magazine.
A review of Jackson’s criminal history revealed that he was on supervised release in D.C. Superior Court for a prior gun conviction, and Jackson was placed under arrest. DNA testing confirmed the presence of Jackson’s DNA on the firearm seized from his backpack.
This case was investigated by MPD and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James B. Nelson.
