NOVEMBER 2018

U.S Attorney's Office, EDLA conducts internet safety presentation.

November 7, 2018 - AUSA Brian Klebba facilitated an internet safety program for 5th and 6th grade students at St. Martin's Episcopal School.  The program covered avoidng internet predators, cell phone safety, social media, cybe bullying, and the dangers of online gaming.

Eastern District Federal Prosecutor presented at Loyola University.

October 30, 2018 - Federal prosecutor Brian Klebba conducted an informational session about the role role of federal prosecutors in the criminal justice system.

USAO, EDLA participates in Tulane University Law School diversity panel.

October 29, 2018 - AUSA Brittany Reed served as a panelist on Tulane Law School's "Prosecutors of Color Panel".  Panelists discussed their career paths, offer insight as to why it's important that more students of color consider careers in the judicial system.

USAO participates in trial advocacy program with local students.

USAO, EDLA AUSA Brittany Reed participated in a program geared to prepare students for careers in the criminal justice field.  The program is operated and facilitated by Orleans Parish Criminal Court.

USAO conducts internet safety training.

October 25, 2018 - AUSA Brian Klebba conducted an internet safety presentation as a part of DOJ's Project Safe Childhood Initiative.  PSC, which was launched in May 2006, is a nation wide initiative designed to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual explotation and abuse.

DOJ agencies participate in Red Ribbon Week.

October 25, 2018 - U.S. Attorney Office, EDLA Community Outreach Coordinator, Shane M. Jones and Law Enforcement Coordinator, Quinn Smith partnered with DEA to participate in Red Ribbon and Gun Violence Prevention activities at St. Benedict the Moor Elementary School in Gentilly.

October 25, 2018 - U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser conducted a presentation at Louisiana State University Law School focusing on the Foreign Corrupt Practice Act (FCPA).

October 23, 2018 - AUSA Brian Klebba presented today at Tulane University's Graduate Business School.  The presentation covered a variety of topics including the role of the federal prosecutor and an overview of the federal crminal justice system.

U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser serves as speaker at Anti-Defamation League conference.

October 22, 2018 - U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser served as a speaker at the Anti-Defamation League South Central Region's Annual Law Enforcement Conference at Loyola University in New Orleans.  The audience included law enforcement professionals from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

U.S. Attorney's Office, EDLA joins law enforcement and community member in celebrating the 35th Annual National Night Out Against Crime.

October 16 and 19, 2018 - U.S. Attorney Peter Strasser, Law Enforcement Coordinator Quinn Smith and Community Outreach Coordinator Shane Jones attended National Night Out Against Crime festivities in Orleans Parish and Jefferson Parish.

October 4, 2018 - USA Strasser conducted a lecture at Tulane University Law School focusing on "Effective Closing Arguments".

USAO, EDLA participates in career fairs.

October 3, 2018 - The U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Louisiana Human Resources Unit participated in 2 career fairs for students at Southern University at New Orleans and Xavier University of Louisiana. 

U.S. Attorney's Office, EDLA participates in an event with the U.S. Patent Office.

October 2, 2018 - Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan Ginsburg participated in a panel discussion as part of a day-long seminar held by the U.S. Patent and Trtademark Organization.  AUSA Ginsburg's presentation focused on enforcement of intellectual property rights in the U.S. under federal law.  Attendees included local business leaders and lawyers.

U.S. Attorney's Office, EDLA meets with international visitors.

October 1, 2018 - U.S. Attorney Strasser and other Assistant U.S. Attorney's met with international visitors from the Near East and North Africa to discuss and develop an understanding of curent trends in the prosecution of corruption in the United States. This program is under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and the New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council.

 

SEPTEMBER 2018

U.S. Attorney’s Office, EDLA participates in the U.S. Department of Justice National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) Symposium.

Innovative Prosecution Strategies to Fight Crime

September 25, 2018 - AUSA Elizabeth Privitera, along with representatives from the New Orleans Police Department and the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, participated in the National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) Symposium (Innovative Prosecution Strategies to Fight Crime) hosted in Birmingham, Alabama. The symposium focused on the vital leadership role U.S. Attorneys play for PSP sites.

USAO, EDLA participates in Constitution Day 2018.

September 21, 2018 - Through the Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education (Judges in the Classroom/Lawyers in the Classrooms Programs, AUSA Peter Mansfield held a discussion about the United States Constitution and Constitution Day 2018 to students at ReNew Therapeutic Program.

USAO, EDLA and Orleans Parish D.A.'s Office presents on opioid abuse in Orleans Parish.

September 21, 2018 - In front of an audience of first responders and school administrators, AUSA Brandon Long along with a representative from the Orleans Parish D.A.'s Office, presented information on the opioid epiemic in Folsom, Louisiana.

U.S. Attorney's Office, EDLA presents information on federal response to opioid abuse to the Spring Lake Neighborhood Association in New Orleans East.

September 18, 2018 - AUSA Brandon Long, EDLA Opioid Abuse Prevention Coordinator and Community Outreach Coordinator, Shane Jones conducted a presentation regarding the federal government's and the U.S. Attorney's response to the opioid abuse epidemic to members of the Spring Lake Neighborhood Association.
