Broken Bow Resident Sentenced To 29 Years For Second Degree Murder

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Dylan Thomas Walker, age 29, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 235 months in prison for one count of Second Degree Murder in Indian Country, and to 120 months in prison for one count of Use, Carry, Brandish, and Discharge of Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence. The sentences were ordered to be served consecutively for a total of 355 months in prison.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
On October 31, 2023, Walker pleaded guilty to the charges. According to investigators, on the evening of December 3, 2022, Walker drove to a Broken Bow residence armed with a gun and attempted to gain entry. Walker then fired upon an occupant of the residence who answered the front door. The victim, who sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and arm, was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The crimes occurred in McCurtain County, within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing. Walker will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.
