Carter County Resident Pleads Guilty To Robbery, Felony Assault

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Timmy Lynn Tatum, age 17, of Sulphur, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to an Information of one count of Robbery in Indian Country, punishable by not more than 15 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.00, and one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm, punishable by not more than 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.00.

The Information alleged that on June 30, 2024, by force, violence, and intimidation, Tatum took and attempted to take items of value from the person and presence of the victim.  The Information further alleged that on that same day, Tatum assaulted the victim with a dangerous weapon, intending to do bodily harm.

The crimes occurred in Murray County, within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Sulphur Police Department, the Murray County Sherriff’s Office, and the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police.

The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Tatum will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
