The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police.

On October 8, 2024, Dawson pleaded guilty to the charges.  According to investigators, on October 16, 2023, officers conducting a traffic stop on Dawson’s vehicle discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest through the Muscogee Nation.  Law enforcement subsequently seized 29 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded .40 caliber pistol from the vehicle.  At the time of the arrest, Dawson had been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The Honorable John F.
