Seminole County Resident Pleads Guilty To Armed Assault

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Anthony Cheyenne Chewey, age 32, of Wewoka, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, and one count of Use, Carry and Brandish a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence, punishable by no less than 7 years in prison, consecutive to any other term of imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine.

The Indictment alleged that on April 11, 2026, Chewey assaulted the victim with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm, and that Chewey knowingly used, carried, and brandished a firearm during and in relation to that crime of violence.

The crimes occurred in Seminole County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Wewoka Police Department, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Chewey will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
