Sequoyah County Resident Pleads Guilty To Federal Firearm Charges

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Joseph Charles Riddle, age 35, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Felon in Possession of Ammunition and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, each punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment and a $250,000.00 fine.

The indictment alleged that on January 6, 2025, Riddle knowingly possessed one round of .45ACP caliber ammunition, 18 rounds of .380ACP caliber ammunition, and one round of .22 caliber ammunition after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The Indictment further alleged that between January 17, 2024, and August 2024, Riddle knowingly possessed one .22 caliber pump action rifle, one 12-gauge pump action shotgun, one 6.5 Creedmoor caliber bolt action rifle, and 15 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor caliber ammunition after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.

The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. 
Riddle was remanded into the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
