Lindsey Halligan
Lindsey Halligan is the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA).
As United States Attorney, Ms. Halligan supervises the prosecution of all federal crimes and the litigation of all civil matters in EDVA in which the United States has an interest. She leads a staff of approximately 300 prosecutors, civil litigators, and support personnel across four Divisions in Alexandria, Richmond, Norfolk, and Newport News. The district serves over six million residents.
Ms. Halligan comes to EDVA after serving as White House Senior Associate Staff Secretary and Special Assistant to the President. Before joining President Donald Trump’s staff in the White House, she worked on his personal legal team from 2022 to 2025.
Ms. Halligan received her J.D. from the University of Miami Law School in 2013. After interning with the Innocence Project and the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, she joined the law firm of Cole, Scott & Kissan, becoming a partner in 2018.
