Crime Victims' Compensation

Some crime victims, particularly victims of violent crime, may be eligible for victim compensation. The Office of the Attorney General for the State of Florida’s Bureau of Victim Compensation administers Florida’s Crime Victim Compensation Program. This program provides compensation for out-of-pocket expenses such as medical bills, lost wages, funeral bills, and counseling related to the impact of the crime when there is an injury or death, or threat of injury to the victim. Compensation is paid only when other financial resources, such as private insurance, worker’s comp, and/or offender restitution, do not cover the loss.

To determine if you may be eligible for this program or to obtain further information about available benefits, and to download brochures and/or claim request forms, please visit the Office of the Attorney General, Victim Services Division’s website at this location: Office of the Florida Attorney General, Division of Victim Services & Criminal Justice Programs
