Building Trust & Legitimacy
The USAO-MDFL Law Enforcement Coordination section delivered a multi-day workshop to approximately 100 assistant state attorneys of Florida’s Fourth Judicial circuit in Jacksonville. The workshop, titled “Building Trust & Legitimacy,” provided participants with an understanding of how and why community partnerships are integral to achieving and maintaining public safety. Attendees were exposed to the history of policing in America, examined key components of professionalism, ethics, and best practices proven effective by high-trust leaders and organizations. The presentation also demonstrated why police-community interactions are essential in establishing and maintaining safe communities and explored ways to practice mutual accountability by officials and citizens as they work to reduce crime. Further, the sessions examined how diversity principles impact organizations and applied to their constituents, as they adapt to changing demographics.
