Cleveland Elementary School Community Field Day
Employees from the U.S. Attorney's Office participated in the Cleveland Elementary School Annual Community Field Day Event in Tampa. These volunteers escorted children to various stations hosted by members of the community. The children learned about the importance of recycling and protecting our environment from the City of Tampa's Solid Waste Department. Lifeguards from the City of Tampa discussed water safety. Officers from the Tampa Police Department taught the children how and when to call 911. Hillsborough County School Security Officer White schooled the kids on bullying and rapped about "ignoring stupid stuff." Ladies from the Tampa Bay Inferno football team created an obstacle course for the kids and tested their football running and passing skills. The Noosa Yogurt truck pulled in and had ice cold yogurt for everyone. Special agents from ATF's Tampa Field Office discussed what to do if you come across a gun, and memorialized the kids' pledge against gun violence with a giant banner for them to sign. Giving Tree Music turned the media center into a music classroom complete with a drum circle. The DJ kept the party moving, and the tug-of-war, jump ropes, face painting, and inflatable obstacle course rounded out the day's fun activities. It was hard to tell who had more fun, the students from Cleveland Elementary or the USAO volunteers.
