Coast Guard Cutter James Offloads More Than $1.06 Billion In Illegal Narcotics
On February 17, 2022, the United States Coast Guard Cutter James' crew offloaded approximately 54,500 pounds of cocaine and 15,800 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $1.06 billion.
U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg was on hand at Port Everglades to welcome the crew home and to recognize their outstanding efforts in the counter-drug mission in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea.
“These enforcement actions not only take drugs off the streets, but they also advance Panama Express strategic investigations to identify and dismantle the transportation organizations and drug kingpins responsible for these smuggling ventures,” added U.S. Attorney Handberg.
The Coast Guard Cutter James is a 418-foot national security cutter homeported in Charleston, South Carolina.
