Florida Gang Investigators Association Awards AUSA Lisa Thelwell as Florida Gang Prosecutor of the Year

This week, Assistant United States Attorney Lisa M. Thelwell was named the 2019 Florida Gang Prosecutor of the Year by the Florida Gang Investigators Association (FGIA). Ms. Thelwell successfully prosecuted multiple defendants in a sophisticated and complex organized robbery case that involved numerous armed robberies throughout the Middle District of Florida.

To date, the FBI has identified at least 14 armed robberies and 4 armed burglaries that were committed by the defendants. Firearms were discharged and otherwise brandished during the commission of all of the robberies and burglaries and, in many instances, small children were present at the time of the robberies.

Seven of the eight defendants have been sentenced for their roles in the robberies. The sentences imposed range from 19 to 35 years in federal prison.
