Improving Investigations Training
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, in partnership with the National Resource and Technical Assistance Center for Improving Law Enforcement Investigations (NRTAC), recently presented two one-day training classes for law enforcement officers and investigators. These courses, hosted by the Lee County Port Authority, provided best practices designed to improve attendees’ performance skills and outcomes during all phases of a criminal investigation, through successful prosecution.
Training topics included evidence collection; forensic analyses; case management and reconstruction; legal issues and considerations; emerging technologies; and community engagement. Presenters included NRTAC instructor Colin Fagan of the Medford Police Department, along with presenters from the USAO and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. More than 140 law enforcement professionals representing 20 agencies attended the courses.
