USAO Team INSPIRES Youth

For the second year, the U.S. Attorney's Office, joined by representatives from U.S. Probation and the U.S. Marshals Service - Orlando Division, participated  in the Osceola County Junior Achievement INSPIRE Expo. The group represented law and government partners focused on introducing middle school students to a variety of criminal justice and government careers. At the USAO station, students learned about careers at the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Courts, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Participants included:  Community Outreach Specialist Khalilah Escalera and AUSA Courtney Richardson-Jones from the USAO-MDFL; Doris Bello and Christina Jones from U.S. Probation; and Deputy U.S. Marshal Steven Hawthorn from the U.S. Marshals Service. Attendees also learned how each agency works collaboratively to enforce the law and keep the public safe. Students engaged in discussions about preventing violent crime in our communities and signed the student National Pledge Against Gun Violence.  Additional participating agencies included the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Fire Rescue, Valencia College School of Public Safety, Advent Health, and many others. More than 3,500 eighth grade students and staff from Osceola County schools participated in the event.
