Bradenton Man Pleads Guilty To Firearm Offense

Tampa, Florida – Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow announces that Luis Quinones (33, Bradenton) has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison.  A sentencing date has not yet been set.

 

According to the

, Quinones and two of his associates traveled to a Walmart parking lot for the purpose of robbing a person scheduled to arrive with drugs that had been paid for in advance. Acting on information, law enforcement officers arrived in the parking lot and approached Quinones and his associates’ car. The officers located three firearms in the car, including a Ruger 9mm pistol with a high-capacity magazine in the backseat where Quinones had been sitting.

 

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Murray.

 

This is another case prosecuted as a part of the Department of Justice’s “Project Safe Neighborhoods” Program — a nationwide, gun-violence reduction strategy.  Acting United States Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow, along with Daryl R. McCrary, Special Agent in Charge, ATF, is coordinating the Project Safe Neighborhoods effort here in the Middle District of Florida in cooperation with federal, state, and local law enforcement officials.
