U.S. Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida
Jacksonville, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces the return of an indictment charging Jose Angeles-Juarez (39, Mexico) with illegal reentry by a deported alien. If convicted, Angeles-Juarez faces a maximum penalty of two years in federal prison.
According to the indictment, Angeles-Juarez was previously deported from the United States on November 5, 2017. Following his previous removal, he did not receive the consent of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the United States. On January 27, 2025, Angeles-Juarez was found to be voluntarily in the United States in Clay County.
An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
This case is being investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Elisibeth Adams.
