Appellate Division

The Appellate Division represents the United States in briefing and arguing criminal appeals before the Tenth Circuit arising out of the Northern District of Oklahoma. These cases include prosecutions for murder, organized crime and narcotics, violent crimes in Indian Country, immigration offenses, child sex abuse and child pornography, and white-collar fraud. In addition to defending criminal convictions on direct appeal, the Appellate Division takes primary responsibility for responding to post-conviction motions, requests for sentence reduction, and collateral attacks on criminal convictions.

The Appellate Division also works in consultation with the other litigating divisions in the Northern District of Oklahoma to assist in issues that arise before, during, and after trial, including suppression issues, jury instructions, evidentiary issues, summary judgment motions, and motions for new trial.
