For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Oklahoma
TULSA, Okla. – Today, U.S. District Judge Gustavo A Gelpi, Jr. sentenced Hank Sallee Williams, 24, for Distribution of Fentanyl to a Minor. Judge Gelpi ordered Williams to 360 months imprisonment, followed by six years of supervised release.
“Williams knowingly provided deadly fentanyl to a minor child,” said U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. “This lengthy sentence demonstrates that those engaging in this type of act will face significant punishment.”
According to the plea agreement, Williams drove to a home in Tulsa, where he knowingly sold fentanyl to Xander Tewis. Williams was aware that Xander was a minor child. Xander died after taking the fentanyl provided by Williams.
In 2024, the DEA seized more than 292 million deadly doses of fentanyl. Their laboratory testing shows that seven out of 10 pills seized contain a lethal dose of fentanyl. You can visit their website to learn more about how the DEA is trying to combat this threat.
Williams will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and Tulsa Police Department investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam C. Bailey prosecuted.
