Project Safe Neighborhood: Revitalized in 2018

Project Safe Neighborhoods

What is Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN)?

Project Safe Neighborhoods is a nationwide initiative that brings together federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and community leaders to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in a community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.

In Oregon, the Project Safe Neighborhoods program specifically targets gang-related gun violence, crimes of domestic violence in which a firearm is involved, and armed career criminals – those that have 3 violent felony convictions, such as sex abuse, arson, assault, robbery or murder.

Through community involvement, strict enforcement of firearm laws, and rigorous prosecution of offenders, Project Safe Neighborhoods is spreading the message that gun violence is not tolerated in Oregon.
